The voyage of tea: from China to the world

June 9, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Each quarter, Confucius Institute instructor Dan Cao (Danna) will present a series of lectures on a cultural aspect of tea. Each lecture can be attended individually, or as a series. Lectures are free and open to the public.

Tea, born in China, travelled to Japan in the 9th century, arrived in England during the 17th century and then became a popular beverage worldwide. The voyage of tea crossed both time and space, causing cultural transformations, breaking peace of the world, but bringing internal tranquility to humans. This workshop will give an introduction to the voyage of tea throughout the world and offer some insight into the history of our world.
